Highlights of Florence Private Guided Tour
The Duomo and The Academy Gallery
The tour starts with an introduction in piazza Repubblica, then we move to the “Battistero” (Baptistery) and its bronze doors - the Gates to Paradise - and on to the Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, better known as the Duomo, decorated with its polychrome marbles and dominate by its impressive Dome.
We continue our walk to Accademy Gallery to admire Michelagelo’s masterpieces: the statue of David and the unfinished Prisoners, the sculptures he made for the monument to Pope Julius II, The museum is also a very important Painting Gallery and a unique oppurtunity to admire ancient musical instruments such as a violin by Stradivari.
Piazza Signoria and Ponte Vecchio
Our walk now moves on to Piazza Signoria, political heart of the city where you can adimire Palazzo della Signoria, an open air museum with breathtaking statues as the Neptune’s Fountain by Bartolomeno Ammannati, a copy of the famous statue of David, and the bronze Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini. From time immemorial this site have attracted visitors from around the world and will leave you with a unique and cherished memory. We procede to Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge, walking troughout the courtyard of the Uffizi Gallery to admire the stunning views down the river Arno and its shining jewellery shops.
Santa Croce Church and the tombs of Italian Personalities
Our tour takes us now to Santa Croce Church the Florentine Pantheon of Italian personalities, which hauses the tombs of Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo Galilei, Gioacchino Rossini amd others, as well as family Chapels with wonderful Renaissance pantings and works of art by Giotto, the Bardi and Peruzzi Chapels, Donatello’s Annunciation and Brunelleschi’s Pazzi Chapel.
